Ecologically responsible rainwater infiltration of Xiamen green area in China This infiltration pilot project took place in Xiamen, district Haicang; a tourist town on the coast with 3.5 million inhabitants. The town has very strict regulations regarding the management and maintenance of green areas such as greenbelts alongside roads, city gardens and other green areas. There is a considerable challenge with regard to the health and ability of plant borders and trees to withstand wind and environmental influences in this subtropical climate. The soil type in this area is primarily loam, a soil type with a very slow penetration speed. Therefore the drainage speed is also very slow; Hydrorock infiltration blocks are the desired solution. The Hydrorock pilot project took place over a length of 100 metres and a width of 38 metres.
